The Dalmore distillery was established in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, a founder of the Hong Kong firm Jardin Matheson. It is located at Alness in Ross Shire, overlooking the Cromarty Firth. Water is draw from the river Alness. Sweet vanilla and cedar wood combine with a floral perfume to give a complex nose. The taste is young and robust and need a little time to open up the underlyng flovours, but well worth the waith. An interesting tobacco leaf finish.
