In 2006 and 2007, the Kilchoman distillery sold numerous cask to private customers in order to finance the expensive distillery construction project.

These were almost exclusively ex-bourbon barrels of first and second fill. Later, the distillery tried to buy back as many casks as possible, as whisky stocks from the early years had quickly become very scarce.

However, this buyback program had little success and most of the owners did not sell the casks and usually bottled them after about 10 years which was the free storage period at the distillery.

As a result, there was a large bottlings of Kilchoman Private Cask in 2016 and 2017.

Mikhail Selivanov, on the other hand, didn't have his cask bottled until 2021, when it was almost 15 years old.

The back label of the bottle is adorned with a greatly reduced reproduction of a painting by Hans Dillesse.

The bottle is sold with its original packaging, a classic red box of Kilchoman's single casks.
