This year, the Ardbeg Day celebrations will take a spectacular turn at the distillery and around the world, as Ardbeg celebrates the occasion with one of its most eclectic experiments to date: Ardbeg Spectacular.

Made by the famous Scottish distillery, Ardbeg Spectacular is destined to surprise enthusiasts and lovers of peaty Scotch whiskies thanks to an extraordinary complexity and originality of scents and taste-olfactory sensations.

For the first time in the history of the distillery, this whisky was aged in very fine Port barrels, and then transferred to ex-Bourbon casks. As usual, the whisky is not chill filtered to fully maintain the broad sensory spectrum of the distillate.

Aroma: Particularly fragrant and aromatic with enchanting and fragrant top notes such as lavender, vetiver and incense candles. In the depths, some stronger tones emerge such as a touch of leather, an aroma of smoked pecans and a hint of wax. Only later do smokier notes such as moist peat and a touch of menthol become apparent.

Palate: The mouthfeel is an explosion of a myriad of strong, smoky flavours, eucalyptus oil, salted caramel, smoked pecans, fragrant wood and leather. Sweeter notes emerge in depth, such as caramelized pear cake and fudge.

Finish: Salted caramel aftertaste, additional leather notes and a refreshing mentholated sensation.
